Learning the alphabet is so much fun!
There are many fun ways to work on learning the alphabet. The purpose here is to help your child become familiar with the names of the letters and understand that letters are something special. The following are some fun alphabet games and activities to enjoy together.
- Sing ABC song
- Read alphabet books
- Point out letters in the environment
- Point out the print in books and other print materials
- Give the child magnetic letters and other letter shapes to play with
- Put together ABC puzzles
- Introduce your child to the names of the letters in his or her name

For young babies:
- Give your child plastic or wooden letter pieces to play with. Magnetic pieces are not recommended, but there are other plastic letter shapes, letter blocks, or wooden ABC puzzles that are good.
- Read ABC books together.
- Read lots of books. Children learn a lot just by seeing print and hearing it read to them.
