High Frequency Words

High Frequency WordsHigh frequency words are the most common words used in print.  As children learn to read it is important for them to learn to read commonly used words by sight for two reasons.

  1. Many of these words are not easily decodable.
  2. If children can recognize words automatically it helps them speed up their reading and makes it easier for them to understand what they have read.

Here are some high frequency words:
