Oral Language/Science kit, uses science social
studies,dramatic play, and art activities to teach vocabulary and oral
language. Oral
language ability including
well developed vocabulary greatly improves reading comprehension.

picture books that
develop the unit theme.
- Two
sequencing stories
based on the unit theme. They
are
formatted for sequencing which
is a
critical skill for comprehension.
- Two
vocabulary
lists. One,
targeted vocabulary words,
to be used with children who already have solid basic vocabulary
development. The
other list is the basic
vocabulary for students with limited vocabulary development.
- 20
lessons on the theme
that focus on oral language, vocabulary and concept development. The lessons use the unit
books, the
sequencing stories, and a variety of engaging activities.
- Supplemental
materials
are provided as needed for the lessons to minimize teacher preparation.
- Teacher Manual which contains the unit lessons, vocabulary, supplemental materials, and a thorough description of various teaching activities including: retelling and sequencing, shared writing, dramatic play, and dialogic reading.
